Happy New Year!!

Two things that I have never ever done:

1. Buy and eat a poutine- a popular french meal of fries, gravy, & curd cheese.

2. Celebrate the New Year.

Yes it's true, I have never celebrated the New Year with friends and/or family, counting down until midnight to “bring in the New Year” as they say. It's not something I do on purpose, it's just that the circumstances of my life always lead to an uneventful New Year's Eve. This year is no exception, but I really don't mind! In fact I'm happy today and looking forward to experiencing all the new adventures that 2010 will bring.

A few Highlights of 2009:

Watching hockey with B and O. A memorable laugh we shared was when Carrlton, the Toronto Maple Leafs mascot, decided to aggressively punch the glass when all was quiet... You had to be there to experience the funniness enhanced by instant replay.

Driving all over the city with B trying to find the perfect birthday present for Sybs: a vintage rotary style phone. We finally found it when all stores were closed except for a quaint little antique shop. Phew!

Getting an unexpected surprise, which turned out to be the perfume I wore everyday since receiving it.

Three Resolutions for 2010:

Use less artificial sweetener.

Work out more frequently and incorporate different exercises.
Stretch more too!

Actively look for a new more fulfilling job.

Bad Mood

I'm tired and cold and just can't seem to find my happy self today. My job is so mindless yet takes so much out of me. What I need is a rejuvenation regiment of water and exercise and sun and warmth... and to devise a plan to get through this winter with my sanity intact... any ideas?!

Thanks Santa!!

Christmas this year was a typical Hebert style Christmas. We exchanged gifts:

My secret santa (Paul!) got me the number one top item on my list, the book

and an unexpected lovely original Jenna Rose hat, modeled here by moi.

Sybil and my dad went running, my mom and I went for a power walk. My dad and I baked a cake, for which Sybs contributed the icing, and food was being cooked all afternoon. Christmas is over soon and work starts back tomorrow, but overall, it was a very merry day... minus the outdated Christmas carols my dad pulled out! Claude, it va falloir faire un bon cd de Noël pour l'année prochaine!

Christmas Eve

I have a lot to be grateful for this Christmas. I'm in a warm home surrounded by my healthy family (minus Vany who's spending Christmas with Paul's family and New Year's with hers), yet my heart still feels so heavy.

What Happened?

I haven't written in a while... mainly because it's hard to be brave and strong and positive sometimes and in those times, it's hard to write! So

I had to work 6 days in a row because a colleague needed a switch. I was happy to help but it drove me kinda

crazy, especially because one of those days involved being singled out to do a VERY tedious task* ALL day long.

There has been a lot of

snow and too much

I also got my hair cut!

According to the lovely Julie who cut my hair at Salon Helmet, I had what is called “mermaid hair” which she transformed into “princess hair”. Who knew?

*I can't go into details for fear of getting into trouble by the Big Bank.

Pay Day

I am proud to say, that for the first time in more than 7 years, I am officially debt free!! This is thanks to a well deserved Christmas bonus from the Big Bank I work for. Now I can start to save for those rainy days... and hopefully tones of sunny ones too.

Feels Like Christmas!!

I have a few reoccurring themes that keep coming back in my dreams, one of which involves a crisis situation where and I can't get help. This morning, I woke up with a start after having one of those dreams: a menacing looking man was trying to get into the house and I was frantically checking all the locks while calling 911... but no one was answering! Luckily, today's tone wasn't set by my upsetting dream. Outside was a quiet winter wonderland and I was happy to be able to stay home (doors locked of course!). My mom and I were supposed to go for breakfast but driving seemed perilous; instead, we decorated the Christmas tree with mom singing Frosty The Snow Man to fill the silence... It looks nice but only the bottom quarter of the tree lights work, and we don't know how to fix it! Overall a fun day of baking, organizing, decorating, and relaxing with a foot massage (thanks mom!!).

Early Morning Treat

This morning I saw, for the very first time, an owl. I was on the bus so I only saw it for a second as we zipped by, but it was unmistakable. Perched on a bare tree, ruffling its chest feathers, looking over the river... so beautiful. I felt lucky to have seen it, a special treat just for me.
