Sorry to rain on the parade, but Disney only made the animated movie, he didn't write the book "Peter Pan." The author was J. M. Barrie. The Peter Pan stories were published in the early 1900s [Disney would have been only 2 or 3 years old then] and the animated film was released in 1953.

But according to Wikipedia, the name "Wendy" appeared in the US Census of 1880, and in earlier records also.
