A Fine Line

My sister Syb was showing me some videos from the Banff Film Festival which got me thinking about the line between someone's sense of adventure and just plain recklessness. How is it that society glamorizes those who decide to risk their lives and seek danger under the guise of chasing a dream? Here's one of the videos she showed me:

Solo: Lost at Sea

Here is a man who decides, in the name of adventure, to leave his son and wife behind to become the first to cross the Tasman Sea (between Tasmania and New-Zealand) alone in a Kayak. I can't help but see him as an irresponsible man, not a courageous adventurer...
