This Afternoon

When I come home after a headache filled, frustratingly uninspiring and painfully long day, I like to close my door, close my eyes, and listen to music. This is what was on the playlist this afternoon:

Grateful

Yesterday, my father read me a story he had written about the last day he spent with his own father. As he was describing himself as a ten year old boy secretly jealous that his father was spending more time with his other siblings and unknowing of what was in store for all of them on that day, we both started to cry. I couldn't sleep last night thinking about how lucky I am that I have such a wonderful father, able to so eloquently share his stories with me.

Cute!!

Trying to Relax... part 2

With management's terrible scheduling decisions, we are currently understaffed on the weekends. The result: it was so busy today and it's going to be the same tomorrow. I'm trying really hard to just take a step back and not concern myself with the things I can't control...

Love Is In The Air

It seems like most of my Facebook friends got married this past weekend! It was only appropriate that I found this video on someone's wall:

I almost cried watching all the romance!

August Events

Is it already September? Buses are full of students and Halloween candy is already being sold!! There are a few things the happened in August that I should write about before... it starts snowing!

On August 6th, it was a hot and sunny evening after work that day. As I was walking towards the house from the bus stop, I saw my mom sitting outside. Looking beautiful with her hair freshly blow-dried from her salon, with a big smile on her face, she pointed to a cute blue Toyota Echo and said: “You see that car parked just there? ... It's yours!!”

Thank you mom for the biggest bestest most awesome surprise ever!!

August 11th, 12th, 13th my dad and I drove (in his car!) to Ottawa to visit my sisters Sybs & Van. On the first day, we arrived at Van's late in the afternoon, and ate a super yummy meal she prepared for all of us: corn on the cob, homemade veggie burgers, and the most amazing vegan blueberry lemon cake!

The second day was filled with tones of walking all over Ottawa, lunch at Thyme & Again, followed by even more walking and supper (on Sybs!) at The Manx Pub. That night we played with Kali and Caesar, the neighbour's cats!!

The plan on day three was to leave early, but the car wouldn't start!! We asked a neighbour (Phil) for a boost, but when the cables caught fire, we were at a loss. Phil turned out to be more than a neighbour, he became our saviour! Using his membership, he called CAA who first towed the car to the nearest dealer. There, we waited 3 hours just to have them tell us that dealer mechanics don't touch modified cars. Phil was there with us the entire time. He actually ended up spending the whole day with us, seeing us through every decision and outcome, and even ended up offering his membership privileges to tow our car all the way home! That day, besides teaching me a super fun word game, he gave me valuable advise on soul-mates, and through his generosity towards complete strangers, he taught me a lesson I'll never forget. That day, instead of arriving home just past noon, we arrived just past midnight. This explains my *cranky state the next day at work...

August 29th marked the beginning of my week long vacation!!! It has been a very nice and relaxing vacation as it involved doing all my favourite things: shopping, baking, getting a massage, going to the gym, and ... watching TOP CHEF!! Yes, August also marked the beginning of Season 7 of the best and only show I watch. My Monday nights for the next 16 weeks are booked!
