I Always Wondered...

I always wondered about the origin of restaurants. The term restaurant comes from the French word restaurer meaning to restore. In 16th century France, street vendors used to sell soup to “restor” one's vigour. More places offering “restorative” nourishment began to appear until the first establishment known as a “restaurant” opened in 1765 by a Parisian named Boulanger.
