Sparklehorse is Mark Linkous. In the late nineties, he took a mix of prescription anti-depressants, Valium, and alcohol which caused him to pass out for 14 hours (!!) with his legs bent underneath his body. When the paramedics arrived and straightened him out, a buildup of potassium traveled straight to his heart which sent him into cardiac arrest. He had no sign of life for 2 minutes as the paramedics tried to revive him. He spent 3 months in the hospital where he had to undergo several painful surgeries. He then spent the next year in a wheelchair before starting physical therapy to restore his ability to walk. Despite all the trauma, he still manages to compose the most amazing tunes:
Word of the week P2C2E: Acronym (taken from Salman Rushdie’s Haroun And The Sea of Stories) meaning a process too complicated to explain. Kid: “Mom, where do babies come from?” Mom: “Oh honey, that’s a P2C2E!”
